What is a veneer?
A veneer is a thin porcelain covering bonded to the front of the teeth to cover up cosmetic imperfections. Veneers are a good option because they require little to no anesthesia and minimal preparation of the teeth. Compared to composite resin, the veneer is a more durable and long lasting solution.
When is a veneer the best option?
Veneers are used to fill in unwanted spaces or to change the size and shape of the teeth. Because of the relatively minor amount of preparation of teeth, veneers are often used in place of a crown to preserve more of the natural tooth structure. This makes them an excellent option for minor cosmetic fixes such as misalignments, stains, or spaces between teeth that are unappealing.
